How might the story be different if it had been told from the perspective of Madame Lefevre?

  1. 1. You shouldn't reflect on life with regrets and mistakes.
    2. The story would be about her experiences of life and maybe the mistakes she made in her life

  2. I believe the theme for the story "Farewell", is that things will not always be the same. Things can change over time. I think this way because it is hard for Madame Lefevre to recognize Pierre and vice versa. If the storIy was told from Madame Lefevre's point of view, I believe the story would be along the same lines. She sees a guy who she really likes and falls in love. Then Pierre leaves for America, and in the 12 years he is gone, changes. She grows larger and less thin and has raised 4 kids. The story would end with the two reuniting in the carriage, like from Pierre's view.

    1. I also agree with the theme of "Farewell" and things cant last forever and change over time. I also agree that in Mme. Lefevre point of view would lay along the same lines but alter slightly due to the people she meets and how that effected her life.

  3. I believe the theme of the story is things never stay the same. Madame Lefevre and Pierre did not recognize eachother over a 12 year period of time. So when they did meet again they thought they were complete strangers. If it was in Madame Lefevre's point of view I think it would be the same way.

  4. That things change over time.

She might have been telling her life between the span of her life and what had happened in between the 12 years they were apart.

  6. I believe the theme of the story is, "Time makes changes that you can't turn back from."
I think she would have told the story in the perspective of first being childless and how when she started having kids it changed her body, it changed her values. She didn't care as much for her own beauty as long as her kids were okay. I think she would have talked about Guy in a "what if?" way. Like, what if I wasn't married? What if I had met him before I got married, what if he hadn't left to the Americas? I honestly can't say though if she was attracted to Guy the same way he was in love with her.

  7. I believe the theme is how time changes people.

I think if this would've been in the eyes of Julie we would've gotten a story about how she met Carnier, her life after there meeting, and her reaction to seeing him again.

  8. the theme is about how age can catch you unprepared
if it was from Julie's point of view, its how she knew Carnier a while, lost contact, and just saw him again after 12+ years

  9. i believe in the theme because time certainly does fly when you age and you change over time. It would have been different because Mme. Lefevre would have told about her beauty when she was a youth and how her relationships and children changed her appearance and added years to her looks..

  10. I think the theme of the story is to never judge a book based on its cover, and just because things change doesn't mean the change Is always bad.

I think it would've been different because she would've been happy to see him, unlike his reaction of being shocked and speechless towards seeing who she is now.

  11. The theme of this story is that time changes people, whether it be for better or for worse.
The story would mostly be the same, but there would probably talk more about how she has children and how she has to deal with her new life as a mom. She'd reflect back on how her life was before she got married and had children. She'd probably think about how much different her life would be if Pierre hadn't gone to America or if she'd gone with him.

The story would have changed greatly. Instead of Carniers' Point of View it would be in Julies'. We would have gotten to see her reaction to seeing him the first time and seeing him after 12 years. We would read her view of things, her thoughts, and her feelings, which would change the story.

  13. The theme is: You can't control change.
The story would be very different. It switches to a woman's pov and talks about what she would think and feel towards the man she got to meet for the first time in 12 years.

  14. I think that the theme is that, everything changes even when you don't realize it has. I think that the story would have been fairly similar if Madame Lefevre had been telling it since he had changed as well. I don't think she would have been as judgmental as he acted though.

  18. I think that the theme is people can change. I think the story would be a little different if Madame Lefevre would have told it because it would be her point of view about when they met. but when they meet again 12 years later it would be about the same

  21. People age too fast, yet time goes slowly.
If Julie had told the story, the theme would be: "Time definitely changes your appearance but it can't change you".

  23. I think the theme is that overtime people change and a lot of the time don't even realize it. If the story was in the woman's perspective it would be completely different because she is aware that she has and changed and grown old.

  24. I believe the theme of this story is that people change over time. Also, i think that if the story was told from Madame Lefevre's point of view it would have been differnet for one main reason. She wouldn't have had the same feelings towards him because she is married.

    2. Yes people do change over time; but who said she was maried anymore?

  25. I think the theme of this story is to accept and realize that people will change over time. I think her point of view would be different because in the beginning she was married. Also when they met again years later she was the one who recognized him, not him recognizing her.

  26. I think that the theme of this story is that people change over time and sometimes we don't notice it until later on in life. I also think that if the woman was to tell the story it would be more about how she had to move on after Pierre left and about her children that she now has.

  27. I think the theme of the story is to not put yourself down when you don't look like your young self anymore, accept the fact that people change overtime. The point of view would have been different because in the beginning Madame might have been married and telling her children about her story of love and while she is walking with her children she would spot a familiar man, Pierre. At the end of the story it would be Madame reflecting about her life and thinking about the memories with Pierre in the mirror.

    1. I think your theme describes the story perfectly and I agree with you about how the story would be if Madame told the story from her point of view.

  28. I think the theme is that with the passing of time comes the changing in appearance and personalities of people. However had the story been told from Madame Lefevre's poin of view it would have told the tale of a lonely wife who had an affair.

  29. I think that the them of the story is that time always passes and people change yet it is hard to tell when you too are changing. I believe that if Madam Lefevre's point of view it would involve the children more and tell about how he has changed.

  30. I think the theme is that people change over time based on things that have happen to them. If the story would have been told from her point of view it would have been if her reflecting on her life and how she changed. I also think that her kids would have been talked about more.

  31. If the story would have been told from the lady's point of view then she would have thought that she didn't change as much as he did and she would have been taken back by the fact that he didn't recognize her. Also, we would be able to find out if she was in love with the man like he was with her. I think the theme of the story is that even though people drift away they can always find their way back to one another.

  32. I think the theme of the story is that time may change people but true love never fades.
If the story was written in Madame Julie's point of view the story would be different because she was married and how she had thought of him as more of a friend instead.

  33. I think the theme is people change over the years but true love never goes away. I think if it was from the womans point of view it would be about the love she has gone through and mistakes she has made. Also how love fading affects her life
